A couple’s Halloween inspired wedding cakeNovember 6, 2013
Natalie Sideserf, a cake artist and owner of Sideserf Cake Studio, created the cake which has been made to look like her and fiancé’s, David Sideserf, severed heads, with a banner saying ‘Till Death Do Us Part’.
The couple share an interest in scary movies, with the wedding ironically being held at a cinema, near Halloween.
Talking to ABC News, Natalie Sideserf said: “We were watching a horror movie, and I was always interested in sculpting lifelike cakes, especially in the face, so I thought, ‘How neat would it be if I did our severed heads?’”
The husband agreed to the idea, so Natalie spent 40 hours to make the masterpiece.
Inside the seemingly creepy creation, guests enjoyed a helping of confetti vanilla cake.
She adds: “I wanted to do something a little goofy and funny, so when you cut into it, it had a bunch of different colors [sic].”
The cake was kept a secret from guests who, for the most part, found the cake creation amusing.
“I didn’t tell anybody about it, so it made it really interesting to see people’s reactions. Everybody was shocked and loved it.
“My grandma did look twice, but in the end she said she appreciated the detail and how realistic it was.”
